CODE OF ETHICS.

What is code of ethics?

A code of ethics is a set of principles and guidelines that outlines the standards of behavior expected from individuals or organizations. It serves as a framework for ethical decision-making and helps ensure that actions align with moral and professional values. A code of ethics typically covers areas such as honesty, integrity, fairness, accountability, and respect for others.

01) Purpose.



Provide Guidance- Help individuals understand what is expected of them in terms of behavior and decision-making.

Conflict of interest- Avoid situations where personal interests could interfere with professional duties, For example, an employee should not influence decisions that benefit a family member.




Competence- Strive for continuous improvement and apply skills and knowledge effectively. Professionals should seek further training or education as needed to maintain their expertise.


04) Ethical Decision- Making

Identify the Issue- Recognize the ethical problem or challenge at hand.

Consider the Options- Evaluate possible actions and their consequences, considering both the short term and long term effects.




Seek Advice- If uncertain, consult with a mentor, supervisor, o ethics committee for input.

Act and monitor- Implement the decision and monitor its outcomes to ensure it addresses the issue appropriately.





05) Implementation.

Training- Conduct regular training sessions to ensure all members understand the code of ethics and know how to apply it.





Enforcement- Develop mechanisms to enforce the code, such as disciplinary procedures for violations. Ensure there are clear consequences for unethical behavior.







06) Acknowledgment.

Commitment statement- Require individuals to formally acknowledge their understanding of and commitment to the code of ethics. This can be done through signed agreements or electronic acknowledgements.




Ongoing dialogue- Foster an environment where ethical behavior is continuously discussed and reinforced.
